Forget not the Lord thy God

The portion you are about to read below I used to teach a Sunday School lesson today and I was so inspired and convicted I decided to share the thoughts with you! I hope you enjoy and walk away blessed!.......

We often read in the old testament how the Lord led his people guided them and protected them.
  • He led them to Egypt and they faced hardship -God was faithful in guiding them out and showing his power in parting the sea
  • When they were out of Egypt they wandered in the dessert and complained ALOT -but yet again God was faithful in leading them and providing their simple day to day needs

  • We read the stories and we already know the outcome and how every trial they faced was for their good and for God's glory. So while we read we get frustrated that the Israelites don't just get it and follow God and what he says because, he a came through for them in some huge ways and showed them time and time again that he was able to handle their every need.

    But how many times do you and I do the same thing in our lives? We have seen him work and move mountains in the past. Why is it so hard to believe that he is going to follow through this time? Because we are human, and if your like me it's a new situation it's scary the road looks long and hard. But if I look back on my situations in the past and see how God used the hard times, and if I allowed Him to work His wonderful way in me that gives me the peace and comfort to trust Him all over again because I know two things
           1. He is Faithful
           2. He has my best in mind.

    Section 1 Observe and DO
    (the scriptures passage comes first then my comments on them come next)

    Deuteronomy 8: 1-9

    1. All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

    2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

    3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

    4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

    5 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.

    6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.

    7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

    8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

    9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

    We sometimes wonder what the point was of God letting the Israelites wander in the wilderness for such a long period of time. I believe it was to test their trust and obedience to him. Even him giving them manna and all the special instructions that went with how they were to gather it, they learned very quickly that obedience was the key because the manna spoiled if they disobeyed and did as they pleased and not how God said. And it was also a lesson in their need of Him because without the manna they would have starved.

    He was chasening them and teaching them obediance to him was of the utmost importance. Just as your earthly father has your good in mind so does your Heavenly Father. He led them through the wilderness and their were many trials and hard times, but at the end awaited the promised land flowing with milk and honey.

    And so is the same with us. God provides us with all the tools we need to not only survive but thrive here on earth below, but he brings trials into our lives so that we never forget our need of him and where we were brought from- a place of sin and slavery and captivity to a place of freedom and love in Jesus Christ, and eventually we will get to see our Promised Land-Heaven.

    Section 2 Forget Not

    Deuteronomy 8:10-16

    10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

    11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

    12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

    13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

    14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

    15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

    16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

    God warns the children of Israel to never forget their roots and who brought them out of the land of Egypt and provided for their every need. He tells them that even though they are going to have nice homes, lots of food, and pretty much every conveniance that they could have on earth, they were not supposed to get prideful and think that it was because of their strength and effort that they had gained all that they had! It was their good Father who made it all possible and gave them the strength and provisions to get where they were.

    We live in a society where we believe it is our right to have all that we want or could ever dream of owning and we forget who it was that made this nation what it is today. We live in a country that God has blessed abundantly, yes it may seem to be going down the tubes at times, but we must never let our prosperity and wealth take our eyes and our goals off of why we were brought or placed here in the first place.

    Each one of us was born with a divine plan and purpose for our lives, but ultimatly we were put on this earth to honor and glorify God and to make disciples and witness to others in the name of Jesus. That's the whole purpose of the chastening and refining to make us better Christians so that others may see by the example of our lives that we trust and obey our Heavenly Father amidst the poverty or wealth whatever state we may be in let us never forget whose we are and where we were brought from.

    Section 3 Remember the Lord

    Deuteronomy 8:17-20

    17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

    18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

    19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

    20 As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.

    God warns us what happens to those who forget him and become prideful at all their success and start believing it is all because of them. Luxury has a way of making us unaware of who actually gave us all that we have, but if we continually look up to Heaven and give God the credit no matter how small the task that will help us to keep our perspective in the right place at all times.

    in verses 19 and 20 God tells them that they are not above the heathen nations by any means, if they forgot him and walked away and started worshipping other gods they would end up in the same eternal destination as the heathens.

    Same with us today if we forget God and start serving the world, we have the same eternal destination as the wicked around us. We may not do any horrible sins or physically bow down to an idol, but it is possible to have idols and put other things in our lives ahead of God especially in the society we live in today. What are the things you and I put before God? And what are some ways we can keep our focus on him and not let the glitz and glamour of the world around us distract us from our purpose on earth?

    Dog Pictures 2017

    I have added another puppy to my dog family! I thought having 3 dogs trying to take pictures this year would be a nightmare, but it went better than it ever has!! Love all of these guys and they all have very different personalities that tends to make life very interesting!!
    These guys have been building such a bond in the past couple of months! Since I knew that we were going to be adding Madeline to the bunch I was letting them run around outside all together and they love each other and love hanging out together!
    Matilda with one of my hardest but yet most rewarding dogs to raise. She is stubborn through and through, but yet the most loyal dog you'll ever meet! She has so much personality and character. And one of the only golden retrievers I've ever met that hates to be hugged or snuggled with!
    Duke is my mama's boy and he too is such a snuggler. He is the epitome of what a golden retriever should be. He is so gentle, loving, and one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. I have never had to train him much because he was always so obedient to a fault and that is absolutely what I love the most about him!
    Madeline is such a sweet girl, she is has that rare sweet, obedient personality and she loves to be right by my side at all time. She is loyal, soft, and loves to cuddle!! <3 She has a lot of Duke's personality traits, but I can definitely see some of Matilda stubbornness seep through every once in awhile.
    Yes, they are goofs and that's what makes life so much fun with them!! <3
    And yes, this is when I was trying to get a picture by myself with Matilda but Duke absolutely wouldn't allow it he thought he needed some lap time too LOL

    What have I to Fear???

    Fear.... Something I have been thinking a lot about lately and even heard a message preached on the topic this morning. We all have things in life that we are afraid of, whether it be of heights, driving, spiders...etc. What do we do with these fears? Some of us may cower in the corner and vow to never ever get near that edge, or we face our fears (I am talking irrational fears at this point).

    At the beginning of this year I decided that this would be the year I face some of my fears. And I have done a few of them so far and you know they weren't nearly as scary as I first assumed they would be.

    This got me to thinking about some of the things I fear in my spiritual life. I have always feared that God would call me to a far away country to serve him, But I am very happy and comfortable serving him right where I am (or so I thought). But if God wants you to do something I believe he will give you circumstances in your life that will help you see His hand in all of those things. Because even though he may call me to another country across the pond I also have learned through a string of experiences that he will walk with me every step of the way and even though it might be out of my comfort zone, I will never be out of his reach.

    The message I heard this morning was given by a missionary from Canada and he travels the globe working with an organization called Open Hands. They help people to learn how to make money, then save it, and eventually give back to their community, And all this and Open Hands does not give them a cent. "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, feed him for a lifetime" is their motto.

    Anyways he preached a message based on Numbers 13 where Moses sent 12 men to spy out the land of Canaan "The Promised Land" they went in and saw all there was to see and came back to the children of Israel with a report. The also brought back some grapes, figs, and pomegranates. They looked at the food and the fact that the land was flowing with milk and honey and everything good that had been promised. BUT then they told them "we saw giants HUGE men that are way stronger than we and we would never be able to overcome them".

    Do you see the fear? They looked at the grapes and the food that they got out. God had promised to them that the land would be flowing with milk and honey. But they forgot all of God's other promises when they saw all the giants in the land. They forgot that the God that they served was able to part the red sea, pour food from the sky, make water come from a rock, and all the other provisions he had given them in the course of time that they had been in the wilderness.

    You know so many times we look at the children of Israel and roll our eyes at how they just never seemed to get their act together and they constantly bickered, complained, and got mad at God. But how many times do I do the same thing? I get frustrated because God isn't making things turn out the way I think that they should. But you know God never promised us in His word that he would make things go according to Rose Mary's will or that whatever you want I will give thee. And you know I am so glad he doesn't work that way because do I really know what I want?

    I am so thankful that I have a Heavenly Father who ultimately knows what is best for me. When serving God we know two things, God will always do things for my good, and for His GLORY. So what do we have to fear? We have an almighty God who has our best in mind, and if he calls us to something he will walk the path with us. And there are 365 verses about not fearing in the Bible that is one a day! So go walk with God in the confidence that if He brings you to it He will walk with you every step of the way!!

    C-section Drama

    What a challenging last couple of weeks it has been. Mentally, physically, and spiritually. It has been a challenge to let go of self and what I want and surrender my will completely to God and tell Him that it is ok He may do with my life as He pleases. But once that surrender  came oh, life became SO much sweeter and easier again! It seemed as if life kept piling up and I would NEVER be able to get over that mountain. And it was then again that I realized I was trying to do it on my own strength and not relying on God to help me.

    As some of you may know Matilda had a litter of puppies 3 weeks ago. Oh how happy that made me, but she had a few complications. On Tuesday January 31st I noticed a huge change in how she was acting, she had been off food for awhile and that is normal for a dog when they are about to deliver , but she was acting like she had no energy and didn't want to do anything. So to the vet we took her and found out she was dehydrated. They wanted to keep her overnight and put her on IV but I wasn't comfortable leaving a very pregnant dog at the vet overnight with no supervision, so they put a liter of fluid under her skin, gave her antibiotics and sent her home.

    On Wednesday morning we woke up to a perkier dog who was also in labor. She started having puppies at 9am and continued throughout the day. She had 6 puppies but then around 5:30 labor just stopped and we gave it a bit, but then I decided it was time to taker her to the vet (we knew she had 9-11 pups inside her because they had done an x-ray the day before) We took her to PETS emergency and they did a wonderful job of taking care of her. They did another x-ray and concluded that the puppies were very far away from the birth canal yet and all 3 of them were feet first (breeched) so the vet said he would induce her labor and get that started again and see if we couldn't make her have them naturally.

    She had one of the puppies naturally, but after one more shot and hours of pushing I finally told them to go ahead and do the C-section. So they went in to rescue the last two babies. One of them was dead and the other was healthy! So we loaded mamma and babies back up after spending all night at the vet and headed home to get them settled back in and get some much needed rest.

    Whew.....flash forward 2 1/2 weeks. Mamma and babies are doing wonderful and mamma just got her stitches out on Wednesday and it is healing wonderfully and the babies are growing like weeds! I am trying to soak in all the puppy cuteness while I can cause all too soon it will be time to say goodbye. We are thankful to God for 8 healthy babies!!!

    The Election - My Views

    With the president inauguration coming up I am going to share some of my opinions and views on this election. I am not one to normally post my views such as this on social media, but I can honestly say that it is not so much the president elect that has made me ashamed to be called an American (although he has done his fare share) but it is how the American people themselves who have embarrassed America.

    Never before has there been such controversy over an election. Wow the fighting, screaming, bickering, name calling, and the list could go on. This election was almost an overload for me and I was so hoping that when it was over so would end the constant noise and complaining, but it didn't.

    I believe that we as American people could do ourselves a favor (I am speaking as an anti trump, but a believer) and stop whining and complaining about who our next president is going to be. Because no matter how much you complain I am sorry it really makes no difference what so ever. We need to accept the fact the Donald Trump is our next president and hope and pray that he does a good job, because ultimately our goal should all be the same to make this country what it should be. And who knows against all odds if we actually gave him a chance he might do a good job even if he wasn't your pick.

    And people, going around rioting, killing, and being nasty simply because who you wanted to win didn't get the office, my friends that is NOT the answer that is only going to draw us as a country farther apart.

    And people constantly are complaining about how bad the world is ,so try spreading some positivity and hoping for the best instead of complaining before we see what will happen.

    Now on a spiritual note...God calls all of us as Christian people to respect and honor those in authority over us. Doesn't mean we have to agree with all that they do and say (because most times we don't) but in spite of how we feel God placed him over our country for such a time as this. And as long as they don't command us to do something against our convictions we are called to obey those in authority. Daniel said it so perfectly in Daniel chapter 2

    Daniel 2:21 KJV
    And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

    Now David was serving a very wicked king who had threatened to kill him and his fellow wise men if no one could interpret the dream. Daniel trusted and relied on God to take care of him and he knew that he would come through for him.

    Why can't we do the same? Yes, the future under our next president looks very bleak, but God has promised to take care of those who trust in him. So why are we so worried about what the future holds? We are not of this world we are of a Heavenly kingdom. We are simply ambassadors sent to spread the gospel. We all know that the end times are near if not right here, so trust in God because HE KNOWS all things and we can trust HIM with all our worries and fears amd he will take care of us no matter what may come to pass!!

    Please read the verses at the bottom because they back up what I am saying! And please no comments (all comments will be deleted) thanks and may God Bless you!

    Bible Verses:

    Romans 13:1-5 ESV

    Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.

    1 Peter 2:13-17 ESV / 98 helpful votes

    Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

    He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”

    But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

    Matthew 5:22 ESV / 15 helpful votes

    But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.
